SLJ Electrical Contractors provide full electrical testing on properties within the private rented sector.

Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020

The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) introduced legislation in England to make it a mandatory requirement to have electrical safety checks carried out at intervals of no more than 5 years by a qualified and competent person.

The legislation came into force on June 1st 2020 for Landlords in England for electrical safety checks to be completed on properties following the timescale below.

(a). All new specified tenancies from July 1st 2020.

(b). All existing specified tenancies from April 1st 2021

WHAT IS AN ELECTRICAL SAFETY CHECK?

This is a series of inspections and electrical tests of the electrical installation, which does not include electrical appliances.  It is recommended that appliances are also checked, but is is not a requirement of the legislation.

WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD I RECIEVE?

This will depend on the work carried out,  for some installations, there may be a valid (less than 5 years old)Electrical Installation certificate covering the whole property this would have been issued when the installation was first installed or rewired.

If there is no valid Electrical Installation certificate then a report is required, this is generally known as an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). This report will provide you with an overview of the electrical installation and, where relevant, will list any remedial works that may be required.

If you’re a landlord whether you have one property or several, your property needs a valid Landlord’s Certificate (EICR). To book a test contact us today. We operate 7 days a week so you can book a day that suits you best.

we heartily recommend SLJ Electrical, we needed to have a new consumer unit installed as the old one was getting dangerous. We'd had 3 quotes and SLJ was the best one we received. They turned up on time, completed the job and were extremely tidy.

As a business owner, you depend on quality tradesmen but it's not always that easy to find them. SLJ Electrical were recommended to me, we had a problem with our alarm they came, sourced the fault and fixed it within the day (even though a part was needed). Excellent service.

I called SLJ Electrical as I had a problem with my trip switch. Malcolm came out and within minutes had found the fault. He was able to rectify the problem there and then, no waiting or messing around and at a very good price. I will definitely be using SLJ Electrical again.
